ADHD coaching is a collaborative partnership between you and a trained coach. Unlike therapy, which often explores the past, coaching is action-oriented and focused on the future. We work together to develop practical strategies, build new habits, and create systems that support how your brain actually works.

How is Coaching Different from Therapy?

Both coaching and therapy are valuable, but they serve different purposes:

ADHD Coaching Therapy
Future-focused: "What do you want to achieve?" Often explores past experiences
Practical strategies and systems Emotional processing and healing
Action-oriented with accountability Insight-oriented exploration
Building skills and habits Treating mental health conditions
Coach as collaborative partner Therapist as clinical professional

Note: Coaching complements therapy well. Many clients do both simultaneously - therapy for emotional support and processing, coaching for practical skills and daily life management.

What Does a Coaching Session Look Like?

Each session typically follows this flow:

  • Check-in: How has the week been? What worked, what didn't?
  • Review: Look at progress on previous goals and actions
  • Focus: Identify the key challenge or goal for today
  • Explore: Discuss strategies, brainstorm solutions, address obstacles
  • Action: Define clear, achievable next steps
  • Accountability: Set up check-ins and support for the coming week

What Can Coaching Help With?

  • Time management and planning
  • Building and maintaining routines
  • Reducing procrastination
  • Managing overwhelm and mental clutter
  • Improving focus and productivity
  • Emotional regulation
  • Communication and relationships
  • Work performance and career goals
  • Daily life tasks and organisation

Is Coaching Right for Me?

Coaching is a good fit if you:

  • Want practical strategies you can use now
  • Are ready to take action and try new approaches
  • Want accountability and support between sessions
  • Are looking for a collaborative partnership
  • Want to understand and work with your ADHD brain

Coaching may not be the right fit if you:

  • Are in acute mental health crisis (seek therapy or medical support first)
  • Are looking for someone to "fix" you
  • Aren't ready to try new things or make changes
  • Want diagnosis or medical treatment (see a psychiatrist)

Do I Need a Diagnosis?

No formal diagnosis is required to work with me. If you identify with ADHD experiences and feel coaching could help, that's enough to get started. Many clients are self-diagnosed, awaiting assessment, or have related conditions like anxiety or autism.
